Emission Reduction in the State City of Riga – Supply of Electric Buses and Development of Electric Charging Points
Electric buses are an experience that Rīgas satiksme acquires by operation. New, environmentally friendly buses are already appearing more and more often on various routes, which will reduce the company's operating costs in the long term.
The project “Emission Reduction in the State City of Riga – Supply of Electric Buses and Development of Electric Charging Points” (Nr.1.1.1.2.i.1/1/23/I/CFLA/001) is planned to be implemented with co-financing from the Recovery Fund of the European Union (EU). The total planned costs are EUR 16.7 million, of which EU co-financing is EUR 14.3 million.
The project foresees the purchase of 17 new electric buses and the establishment of 7 fast charging points in Riga.
The aim of the project is to reduce emissions from public transport services in state city of Riga.
The project will improve the attractiveness of public transport and reduce its impact on the urban environment, as well as contribute to the gradual decarbonisation of public transport by promoting the transition from fossil fuels.
