“Rīgas satiksme” gets confirmation of conformity to international standards ISO and OHSAS
As a result of the audit performed by international certification company SIA “Bureau Veritas Latvia”, “Rīgas satiksme” received confirmation of its conformity to international standard ISO 9001, which is aimed at insuring the fulfilment of client requirements, and OHSAS 18001, which is aimed at labour safety and improving labour conditions. The integrated management system has been maintained at “Rīgas satiksme” since the establishment of the company back in 2003. The new certificates of conformity to ISO and OHSAS standards will be issued for three years.
The certification audit for these three standards was performed on three days – November 9th, 10th and 11th, 2015 by certification company SIA “Bureau Veritas Latvia”, which evaluated the work of the company’s management, transportation field, work of repair workshops, personnel management, maintenance and conformity of infrastructure, customer service centres, IT, quality management and internal audit.
Leons Bemhens, chairman of the board of “Rīgas satiksme”: “During the audit, several employees were interviewed, the conformity of documents to set requirements and fulfilment of safety requirements was checked. The auditors also checked if the employees know which means of individual safety they should use, as well as they knowledge of how they should act in emergency situations. Our company can be proud of ensuring the conformity to international ISO and OHSAS standards in its operations, and undertakes to keep this level also in the future.”
The auditors were positive about the integrated management system of “Rīgas satiksme”, having acknowledged that it meets the standard requirements, as well as gave a positive evaluation to the knowledge of employees and the cleanness in the company’s territory and repair workshops. Still, some observations reflect processes that need improvement, yet it does not affect conformity to international standards. These observations draw attention to improvement of quality documentation, fulfilment of labour safety requirements, as well as to putting in order sheets with safety data of chemical substances.
