“Rīgas satiksme” has announced open tender procedure for the rights to distribute code tickets
In order to allow the passengers of “Rīgas satiksme” public transport to purchase code tickets in maximum range of various applications and to ensure open and fair competition, “Rīgas satiksme” has announced open tender procedure “For the rights to conclude general agreement on distribution of code tickets of Riga city public transport”. Tender documents are available at the website www.rigassatiksme.lv, under section “Tenders and auctions”. Offers have to be submitted until August 24, 2021, 15:00 o’clock.
Code ticket will be available for purchase both in “Rīgas satiksme” application and in applications of other distributors, which will be identified as a result of the tender procedure. This way the customers will be able to choose the ticket purchase application that is most convenient for them.
Code ticket distributors will have to ensure sale of code tickets in their service and use of code tickets in the mobile application provided by the distributor, informing about the available types of code tickets, price and terms of use, support service available for the customers, as well as other related activities.
The new code ticket will expand the existing range of tickets of “Rīgas satiksme” and will enable the public transport customers to make payments for the trips, using their smart phone in online mode. The code ticket will work parallel to the existing e-ticket system. In order to use the code ticket, the customers will have to choose one of the mobile applications offered on the market and purchase single trip ticket online, using this application in their smart phone. When entering the transport, the ticket will have to be activated by scanning the QR code that will be placed in several sites throughout the entire salon of the transport vehicle, and it will be unique for each vehicle. If a ticket controller will enter the transport, the passenger will be able to present the activated ticket to the controller in the application.
