“Rīgas satiksme” has concluded the first half of the year without losses
“Rīgas satiksme” reports that according to the data of the operative financial statement, the company managed to close the first half of 2021 without losses and with a small profit of 172 thousand euros. At the same time, the COVID-19 pandemic and the implemented restrictions have significantly reduced the income of “Rīgas satiksme” for carriage of passengers, which has decreased by 29.2% compared to the first half of 2020, the income from car parking has also decreased, as well as the number of passengers transported in public transport.
The company managed to close the first half of 2021 with positive financial indicators, thanks to the sound management of the company, which has allowed to reduce the operating costs of “Rīgas satiksme” by 12%.
The restrictions introduced by COVID-19 have had a significant impact on the income of “Rīgas satiksme” from passenger transportation, which, compared to the first half of 2020 is 29.2% less and amounts to 11.7 million euros. The COVID-19 pandemic also led to a further decline in the number of passengers carried, for example, in the first six months of 2021, almost 34 million passengers were carried, which is 22% less than a year earlier. Analyzing the structure of passenger transport in the first six months of 2021, compared to the first six months of 2020, the number of transported passengers with partial discounts has decreased by 2 million, with 100% discount – by 2.4 million, but transport with full payment has decreased by 2.7 million. While the number of passengers using monthly tickets has decreased by 2.5 million.
In the six months of 2021, income from car parking services decreased by 21% or 1.2 million, amounting to 4.5 million euros.
Compensation for public transport services from the state and local government budget in the six months of 2021, compared to the first half of 2020, has decreased by 11.4% or 7.8 million euros, amounting to 60 million euros.
