„Rīgas satiksme” held seminar together with Advisory Council of NGOs of disabled persons
On September 24 the Advisory Council of NGOs of Disabled held a visiting session in „Rīgas satiksme”, including a seminar/discussion of the council members and „Rīgas satiksme” experts.
The seminar was opened by „Rīgas satiksme” Chairman of the Board Leons Bemhens, who emphasised the goals of the seminar: to explain the current and planned processes of „Rīgas satiksme”, to further discussion, as well as to reach mutual understanding with different social groups.
In the first part of the seminar, the experts of „Rīgas satiksme” informed the members of the council about what the company had already done to improve the accessibility of the company’s various services and conveniences to disabled persons, as well as explained planned improvements. During the presentation, experts answered the questions received from the council members about the company’s communication, public transport, route network, public transport stops and parking lots.
In the second part of the seminar, a discussion was held, during which experts of „Rīgas satiksme” answered the questions of the council members which arose during the seminar. „Rīgas satiksme” also called on members of the council to make their recommendations and proposals how to fight against unfair drivers who forge disabled person’s certificates to avoid paying for services of „Rīgas satiksme”.
„Rīgas satiksme” has already organised mutual understanding seminars with cyclists, attended by representatives of the Road Traffic Safety Directorate (CSDD), police and the municipality.
