"Rīgas satiksme" implements new system of QR codes to inform passengers at public transport stops

"Rīgas satiksme" is introducing public transport schedules with QR codes at public transport stops, which will allow every passenger to see the nearest public transport departure time from the stop, to plan the route, to find the nearest e-ticket trade place, as well as to write a reference to "Rīgas satiksme" after activating a QR code in his/her smart phone.

QR (Quick Response) code is a two-dimension bar code. By June 15 Rīgas satiksme placed schedules with QR codes at 640 public transport stops, but in other stops new schedules with QR codes will be gradually introduced until August 1.

Every day Rīgas satiksme operates 80 public transport routes with 1859 stops. Every month on the average Rīgas satiksme receives 36 000 passenger questions about public transport departure and arrival times, e-ticket trade places, as well as requests to help passengers in planning their routes. The new QR-codes will help passengers to get answers to their questions quickly and conveniently, by means of their smart phones.
