“Rīgas satiksme” issues redesigned Riga resident’s card and Pupil’s e-card
“Rīgas satiksme” informs that redesigned Riga resident’s card and Pupil’ e-card (see the picture) have been manufactured and starting from this week will be gradually issued to clients at “Rīgas satiksme” customer service centres. The new design uses the motive of Riga’s white-blue flag with crossed keys. 50, 000 Riga resident’s cards and 40, 000 Pupil’s e-cards have been manufactured so far.
Customers ordering a Riga resident’s card or a Pupil’s e-card for the first tome will receive redesigned cards. Those clients who use the cards of old design shall not rush to change them, as the cards will be valid until their expiry date and replaced with new ones when necessary.
The first Riga resident’s card was issued on the 19th November 2013, and originally its design was based on the municipality’s official symbol, i.e. the city’s coat of arms with wreath holders. The new design of the Riga resident’s card is more ascetic and includes Riga’s unifying logotype – crossed keys. The design is changed due to amendments to the binding regulations on symbols of Riga city, which regulate the usage of Riga’s flag and coat of arms. The Pupil’s e-card was issued for the first time on August 15, 2012, and so far has been decorated by Riga’s big coat of arms.
The design change of the Riga resident’s card and Pupil’s e-card neither cause any additional costs nor affect the conditions of issuing and using the cards: the Riga resident’s card is a multifunctional document certifying the status of Riga resident and is issued to persons having declared their residence or owning a real estate in Riga. The Pupil’s e-card fulfils the function of pupil’s certificate and is issued to pupils of forms 1-12 of Riga comprehensive schools, as well as to pupils who have declared their residence in Riga but attend educational institutions outside the city.
