“Rīgas satiksme” reminds about the new order of using public transport in Riga after discounts were cancelled
“Rīgas satiksme” informs that to be able to use public transport after the interim administration of Riga City Council put into effect amendments to the binding regulations of the municipality and cancelled a majority of public transport fare discounts for the period of the emergency situation, passengers can use their already existing e-tickets (Riga resident’s cards, Pupil’s e-cards, personalized and non-personalized e-tickets) after having loaded full-price tickets onto them. Those passengers who have bought and started to use tickets with the discounts specified in the binding regulations, may finish using them.
Those passengers who enjoyed the discounts before, including pupils, students, pensioners, disabled persons of group 3, the liquidators of the consequences of the disaster at Chernobyl nuclear power station, persons aged over 75 years, etc. will be able to use public transport only with full-price tickets. The amendments to the binding regulations also abolish one-hour tickets for EUR 1.15 on working days and for EUR 0.60 on holidays for Riga residents. Those passengers who have bought and started to use tickets with the discounts specified in the binding regulations, may finish using them.
Tickets at full price may be purchased in advance from ticket vending machines in the city, as well as at more than 400 points of trade across Riga. Passengers can load tickets to the e-tickets they are already using, including personified, non-personified, Riga resident’s cards and Pupil’s e-cards. You can find the list of ticket trade points here: https://www.rigassatiksme.lv/lv/biletes/bilesu-tirdzniecibas-vietas/tirdzniecibas-vietas/
“Rīgas satiksme” reminds that to protect drivers from infection risks, drivers do not sell tickets in public transport anymore.
The interim administration of Riga City Council has kept the previous discounts for disabled persons of groups 1 and 2, children of preschool age, State and municipal police, as well as teaching staff of municipal educational institutions. Passengers of the above groups can use public transport as they did before.
During the emergency situation, social work specialists and carers from the institutions subordinate to the Riga City Council Welfare Department, as well as medical staff and persons involved in medical treatment process who work in the healthcare capital companies of Riga city municipality, will use public transport free of charge. To get this discount, the above persons will have to go to a ticket vending machine, insert their e-ticket and load onto it a special product – a ticket with 100 percent discount.
To reduce the risk of the spreading of virus COVID 19, everybody must be involved, so it is important that people have as little social contacts as possible and would use public transport during the emergency situation only when there is no other alternative. To reduce the spreading of COVID-19, the company calls on clients to stay at home, go on foot or by bicycle.
