According to observations of “Rīgas satiksme” ticket inspectors, on the first day, 88% of passengers used mouth and nose covers in public transport, for which we are really grateful. On October 7 “Rīgas satiksme” ticket inspectors performed 879 checks of public transport. During checks, ticket inspectors remind passengers of the necessity to use mouth and nose covers and control whether passengers bought and registered the trip.
“Rigas satiksme” informs, according to government decision as from 7th October, the mouth and nose cover must be used in trams, trolleybuses and buses, therefore reducing the risks of “COVID-19” risks as much as possible. In the event of a passenger has no mouth and nose cover, the controllers will request to apply it.
All passengers must use mouth and nose cover, except children under age of 13 years. Also it is permitted not to use mouth and nose cover due to medical reasons, for example, if a person has difficulties to apply the mask due to reduced physical capabilities or a person has psychical health disorders.
In public transport it is allowed to use hygienic fabric masks, which can be sewn by yourself, visors (face shields) or disposable medical masks, which can be bought, for example, in pharmacy.

To reduce the risk of “COVID-19” spreading everyone needs to be involved, therefore it is important that citizens have as little social contact as possible and use public transport during an emergency only when there is no other alternative.
