"Rīgas satiksme" to organize Open doors days every month
Open doors days will be held once a month, on the second Wednesday of every month, the first such event is due on March 13. As part of Open doors days, visitors accompanied by a specialist of Rīgas satiksme will be shown around tram depot No. 5 (at Brīvības Street 191) or bus depot No. 7 (Vestienas Street 35). They will be also familiarised with the history and day-to-day operations of Rīgas satiksme. Such visits will be free of charge.
To apply for an Open doors day, one should call 67104899 or send an e-mail to info@rigassatiksme.lv. The application has to include the person’s name, surname, age, cell phone number, e-mail address, as well as the facility he/she wants to visit. The visitor must be at least 7 years old, children and teenagers at the age of 7-18 years have to be accompanied by adults.
Open doors days are being introduced as part of the 10th anniversary of Rīgas satiksme. On February 20, 2003, two Riga bus depots, Imanta and Tālava, merged together, providing basis for establishing a new company, Rīgas satiksme. Two years later the new company was joined by the Tram and Trolleybus Directorate, Riga Parking Lots and Riga City Council Moor Pool and became one of the largest municipal companies, which today employs a staff of 4000. On February 20 Riga municipal company Rīgas satiksme celebrates its 10th anniversary.
