Ticket controllers of “Rīgas satiksme” together with the Riga Municipal Police performed more than 1000 public transport inspections in March
In the period from 1st to 14th March, the ticket controllers of “Rīgas satiksme” together with the officers of the Riga Municipal Police performed 1173 public transport inspections, during which the passengers’ compliance with the epidemiological safety measures established in the country was monitored. During the abovementioned period, 495 passengers were asked to get off the public transport for non-use of a mouth and nose cover, while 41 passengers received a fine by the police.
Ticket controllers of “Rīgas satiksme perform public transport inspections without the participation of the Riga Municipal Police as well. In the first two weeks of March, such inspections were carried out in 10 812 public transport vehicles. As explained by the ticket controller, in general, passengers are conscientiously following the safety measures established in the country and about 98% of passengers wear mouth and nose covers. If the passenger has not put on the mask or has done it partially, the ticket controller asks to do so, but if the passenger refuses, he is asked to get off at the next stop. While, if the inspection is organized together with the Riga Municipal Police, then administrative offence proceedings are initiated against the offender. To this day, in March, police have imposed fines on 41 passengers.
