There will be more buses, trolleybuses and trams on public transport routes during Riga city festival, and public transport will be free of charge

On August 19-21, during Riga city festival, there will be additional buses, trolleybuses and trams on public transport routes and some routes will be changed so that Riga citizens and guests could reach comfortably the places where the city festival events will be organised. On August 20 and 21 Riga’s public transport (buses, trolleybuses, trams) will be free of charge, except for the night commercial transport and the Retro tram.

August 19

The public transport will run from the city centre until 01.30. There will be additional trams on routes No. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11, trolleybuses on routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27 and buses on routes No. 3, 11, 18, 12/23/26 (combined), 24, 25, 37, 40, 51 and 53.

In the night from Friday to Saturday, the commercial night transport will start at   2.00; the ticket price will be 1.00 lats, as usually.

During the aerobatics contest, the trolleybus traffic intensity will be increased on route No. 20 in direction of Zaķusala, so that Riga residents and guests could visit the events organised there.

Additional trolleybuses on route No. 20, 19th August 2011  

To deliver participants of choir rehearsals to Mežaparks, there will be more trams on route No. 11 and more buses on routes No. 9 and 48.

Traffic intervals will be also reduced on trolleybus routes 5, 12 and 25 and bus routes 37, 41, 53 to deliver the participants and visitors of Riga dancing festival to Ķīpsala. It should be also noted that around 22.30-22.45 all transport traffic across the Cable Bridge, as well as at the crossings of Kr.Valdemāra Street with Kalpaka Blvd. and Raiņa Blvd. will be closed due to the Okarte night run.

Okarte Night Run: From 22:30 till 00.00, public transport routes will be changed due to the OKarte Night Run.

• On tram routes No. 5 and 7, trams will run from Iļģuciems and trade centre Dole, accordingly, to the Central market and back. The sections of these two routes from the city centre to terminals Ausekļa Street and Aldaris will be closed.
• Trolleybus routes No. 1, 5 and 12 will be closed.
• On trolleybus route No. 3, trolleybuses will run from Sarkandaugava by the route to Kr.Valdemāra Street, then in Stabu Street, Brīvības Street, Raiņa Boulevard and further by the route to the Central market. From Gaiziņa Street all trolleybuses will run by the route to Brīvības Street, then in Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Kr.Valdemāra Street to Sarkandaugava.
• On trolleybus route No. 19, trolleybuses will run from Ziepniekkalns to the University of Latvia and back. There will be no traffic from Pētersalas Steet at this time. The terminal in Ziepniekkalns will be transferred to that of buses.
• On trolleybus route No. 25, trolleybuses will run from Iļģuciems to Ķīpsala and back. Trolleybuses will not run from Brīvības Street at this time.
• On bus routes No. 2 and 24, buses will run to the city centre by the route to Pulkveža Brieža Street, then in Hanzas Street, Stabu Street, Brīvības Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Raiņa Boulevard and further by the route. From the city centre buses will run to Brīvības Boulevard, then in Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Sporta Street, Vesetas Street, Hanzas Street and further by the route.
• On bus route No. 11, buses will run to the city centre by the route to Stabu Street, then in Stabu Street, Brīvības Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Raiņa Boulevard and further by the route. On the way back from the city centre, buses will run to Brīvības Boulevard, then in Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street and further by the route.
• On bus route No. 13, buses will run to railway station Preču 2 by the route to Daugavgrīvas Street, then in Daugavgrīvas Street, Raņķa dambis, Uzvaras Boulevard, Stone Bridge, 11th November Embankment, 13. janvāra Street, Marijas Street and further by the route. On the way back to Babīte railway station, buses will run by the route to Marijas Street, then in Marijas Street, 13. janvāra Street, 11th November Embankment, Stone Bridge, Uzvaras Boulevard, Raņķa dambis, Daugavgrīvas Street and further by the route.
• On bus route No. 20, buses will run from Pētersalas Street by the route to Pulkveža Brieža Street, then in Hanzas Street, Stabu Street and further by the route. On the way back to Pļavnieki cemetery, buses will run by the route in Bruņinieku Street, then in Sporta Street, Vesetas Street, Hanzas Street and further by the route.
• On bus route No. 20, buses will run from the city centre by the route to Brīvības Boulevard, then in Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street and further by the route.
• On bus routes No. 37, 41 and 53, buses will run from Imanta and Zolitūde by the route to Slokas Street, then in Kalnciema Street, Daugavgrīvas Street, Raņķa dambis, Uzvaras Boulevard, Stone Bridge, 11th November Embankment, 13. janvāra Street, Merķeļa Street, Brīvības Boulevard to bus stop Freedom Monument. On the way back to Imanta and Zolitūde, buses will run in Raiņa Boulevard, 13. janvāra Street, 11th November Embankment, Stone Bridge, Uzvaras Boulevard, Raņķa dambis, Daugavgrīvas Street, Bezdelīgu Street, Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street and further by the route.

Those passengers having bought and using one-moth tickets for the temporarily closed trolleybus and tram routes will be allowed to use these tickets on other bus, trolleybus and tram routes, without registering their trips.

August 20

The public transport will run from the city centre until 02.30. There will be additional trams on routes No. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11, trolleybuses on routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 20, 22 and 27 and buses on routes No. 3, 11, 18, 12/23/26 (combined), 24, 25, 37, 40, 51 and 53. Their schedules will be available on Rīgas satiksme website, at public transport terminals, as well as at major public transport stops in the city centre. 

In the night from Saturday to Sunday, the commercial night transport will start at   3.00; the ticket price will be 1.00 lats, as usually.

During the aerobatics contest, the trolleybus traffic intensity will be increased on route No. 20 in direction of Zaķusala, so that Riga residents and guests could visit the events organised there. Trolleybuses on route No. 20 will run until 2.30.  

Additional trolleybuses on route No. 20, 20th August 2011   

To deliver the participants of choir rehearsals and visitors of the concerts to Mežaparks and back, the intensity of traffic will be increased on tram route No. 11 and on bus routes No. 9 and 48. A temporary trolleybus route No. 3a Central market-Sarkandaugava-Mežaparks will be also organised.

On trolleybus route No. 3a, trolleybuses will run from the Central market in Gaiziņa Street, Gogoļa Street, Marijas Street, Merķeļa Street, Kalpaka Boulevard, Kr.Valdemāra Street, Duntes Street, Tilta Street, Meža Avenue to bus terminal Mežaparks. From Mežaparks, trolleybuses will run in Meža Avenue, Tilta Street, Duntes Street, Kr.Valdemāra Street, Raiņa Boulevard, Gogoļa Street, Turgeņeva Street, Prāgas Street, Gaiziņa Street. Trolleybuses will run from the Central market from 16.00 till 19.51. After the concert, the route will be re-launched, if necessary.

A temporary bus route Daugavgrīvas Street –Spilve airport will be also organised on August 20 to deliver the city residents and guests to Spilve airfield, where the Aviation festival will take place. The route will be active between bus stop House-building plant in Daugavgrīvas Street and the airport building from 10.00 till 20.00.

During Rīga Retro 2011, from 11.00 till 13.00, the following public transport routes will be changed:

• on bus route No. 2 and 24, buses will  run to the city centre by the route to Elizabetes Street, then in Elizabetes Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Raiņa Boulevard and further by the route; from the city centre, the buses will run  by the route to Brīvības Boulevard, then in Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Bruņinieku Street, Sporta Street, Vesetas Street, Hanzas Street and further by the route;
• on bus route No. 20, buses will run from Pļavnieki cemetery by the route to     K. Valdemāra Street, then in Sporta Street, Vesetas Street, Hanzas Street and further by the route;
• trolleybus route No. 1 will be closed;
• on trolleybus route No. 20, during the festival events trolleybuses will run from the University of Latvia to the bus terminal in Ziepniekkalns.
• on trolleybus route No. 24, during the festival events trolleybuses will run from the University of Latvia to JSC Dzintars.

August 21

The public transport will run from the city centre until 00.30. There will be additional trams on routes No. 4, 5, 6, 7, 10 and 11, trolleybuses on routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27 and buses on routes No. 3, 11, 18, 12/23/26 (combined), 24, 25, 37, 40, 51 and 53. Their schedules will be available on Rīgas satiksme website, at public transport terminals, as well as at major public transport stops in the city centre. 

Like on August 20, a temporary bus route Daugavgrīvas Street – Spilve airport will be also organised on August 21 to deliver Riga residents and guests to Spilve airfield, where the Aviation festival will take place. The route will be active between bus stop House-building plant in Daugavgrīvas Street and the airport building, but its running hours will be shorter than on August 20: from 10.00 till 18.00.
