As of February 1 price of tickets in minibuses will be equivalent to that in other means of public transportation
Today the Commission for the Licensing of Commercial Motor Transportation Services accepted plans of minibus company „Rīgas Mikroautobusu satiksme” to make, as of February 1, the price of tickets in enhanced comfort minibuses equivalent to the price of one trip in other means of public transportation, which will be EUR 1.15.
EUR 1.15 will be the price of tickets sold in kiosks, whereas drivers will sell tickets for EUR 2.00. The fare in night minibuses running from the Central Railway Terminal will be also increased to EUR 2.00.
One e-ticket will be valid both in the public transport of „Rīgas satiksme” and minibuses of „Rīgas Mikroautobusu satiksme”. Other price discounts for a certain number of trips will be also applied in minibuses, e.g. for 10, 20 and 50 trips.
Now minibuses will carry free of charge children of preschool age (without occupying an additional seat), disabled persons of group I or II, disabled persons under the age of 18 years, a person accompanying a disabled person of group 1 or a disabled person under the age of 18 years. Discounts granted by Riga City Council to some categories of passengers, e.g. to pupils, pensioners, will not be valid in minibuses, as before.
„Rīgas Mikroautobusu satiksme” explains that buying tickets from driver will decrease the number of cash, but the increased use of e-tickets will improve traffic safety, as one of the driver’s main duties is to ensure transportation of passengers. An increasing use of e-tickets will also increase the accuracy of fulfilling minibus runs, as well as reduce the risk of not issuing tickets.
