Bus route No. 40 “Jugla – Ziepniekkalns” will be replaced by trolleybus route No. 4 as of January 2
“Rīgas satiksme” informs that as of January 2, 2020 bus route No. 40 “Jugla – Ziepniekkalns” will be replaced by new trolleybus route No. 4. Also from January 2, minor changes will be made in the working day schedules of trolleybus routes No. 3, 12 and 15, and trolleybus route No. 19 will get a new schedule for working days and holidays.
Trolleybus No. 4 will run in the direction from terminal Jugla along Murjāņu Street, Silciema Street, Brīvības gatvi (the middle lane), Brīvības Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Raiņa Boulevard, Gogoļa Street, Lāčplēša Street, over Salu Bridge, along the exit to Mūkusalas roundabout, K. Ulmaņa gatve, Vaiņodes Street, Tadaiķu Street, Valdeķu Street, Saulkalnes Street, Graudu Street, Valdeķu Street, Ozolciema Street, Līvciema Street.
In the direction of Ziepniekkalns, trolleybus No. 4 will go along Līvciema Street, Ozolciema Street, Valdeķu Street, Graudu Street, Saulkalnes Street, Valdeķu Street, Tadaiķu Street, Vaiņodes Street, K. Ulmaņa gatve, exit to Mūkusalas roundabout, over Salu Bridge, along Lāčplēša Street, Gogoļa Street, Marijas Street, Merķeļa Street, Brīvības Boulevard, Brīvības Street, Brīvības gatvi, Silciema Street, Murjāņu Street.
One-route monthly tickets that will be registered for the first time until January 2, 2020 on bus route No. 40, will be valid on other bus routes where they overlap with the above route, as well as on trolleybus route No. 4 without registration, until the expiry date of the monthly ticket.
The decision to replace bus route 40 with new trolleybus route No. 4 was taken to reduce air pollution from buses in the city centre and to optimize various resources of the company. Access to the trade centres located next to Mūkusala roundabout and to the recreation park on Lucavsala will be also improved.
