Changes in public transport traffic during the pastoral visit of His Holiness Pope Francis

„Rīgas satiksme” informs that on September 24, 2018, the public transport will run according to holiday schedules due to the pastoral visit of His Holiness pope Francis. 

PUBLIC TRANSPORT

We inform that during the period from 10:00 until 10:30 approximately, if traffic is closed on Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica and Aspazijas Boulevards, trams No. 5, 7 and 11 will run from their respective terminals in Iļģuciems, Ķengarags and Mežaparks to Radio Street (stop „Railway Terminal Square”). Trams going from Mīlgrāvis and Ausekļa Stret may be stopped for a short while before K.Valdemāra Street.  

Additional runs will be organized on some bus and trolleybus routes in the night of September 24/25. It is planned that buses and trolleybuses on the routes mentioned below will depart from stops located near the Central Railway Terminal at 0:30, 1:30 and 2:20 a.m. to deliver to Riga districts passengers who have arrived from Aglona by railway:

·         on bus route No. 8 from stop „ Railway Terminal Square” to Zolitūde;

·         on bus route No. 9 from stop „Merķeļa Street” to Mežaparks;

·         on bus route No. 21 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Raiņa Boulevard) to Imanta;

·         on bus route No. 24 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Gogoļa Street) to Mangaļsala;

·         on bus route No. 30 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Raiņa Boulevard) to Daugavgrīva;

·         on bus route No. 40 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Gogoļa Street) to Jugla;

·         on trolleybus route No. 15 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Raiņa Boulevard) to Ķengarags;

·         on trolleybus route No. 18 from stop „Central Railway Terminal” (Satekles Street) to Mežciems;

·         on trolleybus route No. 22 from stop „E. Birznieka-Upīša Street” to Pļavnieki;

·         on trolleybus route No. 27 from stop „Railway Terminal Square” to Ziepniekkalns;

We draw your attention to the fact that these buses and trolleybuses will go from Riga centre to the city’s districts by their respective routes until the last passenger gets off.  

On September 24, Riga public transport (trams, trolleybuses, buses) will run according to holiday schedules. Passengers who have bought tickets for working days should take into account that these tickets will not be valid on September 24. Minibuses and express buses will run according to Sunday’s schedule.  

PARKING LOTS

Pay parking lots operated by „Rīgas satiksme” will be for free on September 24, except the underground car park at Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street 5a, where parking services will be charged for according to the effective tariffs. 

CUSTOMER SERVICE CENTRES

On the festive day, September 24, customer service centres will be closed.
