December 31 and January 1: free public transport and extra public transport runs
„Rīgas satiksme” informs about changes in the operation of Riga public transport, municipal parking lots, and customer service centres on the New Year eve, December 31, and the New year’s first day, January 1. On December 31 and January 1, passengers will be able to use Riga public transport (bus, trams, trolleybuses) free of charge. There will be also additional public transport runs in the New Year night.
Public transport (trams, trolleybuses, buses)
On December 31 and January 1, the public transport will be running according to the holiday schedule. On the above days, passengers will be able to use the public transport free of charge.
To ensure a comfortable transportation of passengers to the place where the New Year event will be held and back, additional runs will be organised on the following public transport routes in the night of December 31/January 1 from about 20:00 until 4:00:
- bus routes No. 3, 11, 12/23/26 (combined, runs across Akmens Bridge), 18, 24, 25, 37, 40, 50, 51 and 53;
- tram routes No. 1, 5, 7, 10 and 11;
- trolleybus routes No. 9, 14, 15, 17, 18, 22 and 27.
Customer service centres
On December 30, the customer service centre at Brīvības Street 49/53 will be open from 10:00 until 13:00, but the other six customer service centres will be open as usually on Saturdays, i.e. until 16:00.
On December 31 and January 1, all customer service will be closed.
Parking lots
It will be possible to use pay parking lots of Riga municipality, operated by „Rīgas satiksme”, free of charge on December 31 and January 1, except the underground car park at Krišjāņa Valdemāra Street 5a, where parking services will be charged for according to the current tariffs.
Minibuses
On December 31 and January 1, minibuses will be running according to Sunday’s schedule.
The traffic of night transport will be organized in the night of December 29/30 and December 30/31.
