From 4 January, electric buses will also start running on weekdays on routes 28 and 63, and on weekends on routes 12, 18, 55 and 56
From 4 January, on weekdays, in addition to bus routes 26, 33 and 57, electric buses will also run on routes 28 and 63. And, on weekends, in addition to bus routes 9, 20 and 26, they will also run on bus routes 12, 18, 55 and 56.
All 35 Solaris electric buses have been added to the bus fleet of Rīgas satiksme and are now gradually starting transporting passengers in the city of Riga. With the arrival of the new buses, Rīgas satiksme will reduce its operating costs in the long term. Moreover, both emissions and noise levels will be reduced in the city. Passengers will be provided with a higher level of comfort on the new buses, including the possibility to charge their smartphones.
As previously reported, Rīgas satiksme has declared Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o. as the winner of the tender for the supply of electric buses and their spare parts. Currently, a contract is signed with Solaris Bus & Coach Sp. z o.o. for the supply of 35 electric buses and spare parts.
The purchase of the electric buses was carried out within the framework of the project “Purchase of electric buses for the city of Riga” (No. 4.5.1.2/22/I/002) co-financed by the Cohesion Fund of the European Union. The total cost of the project is estimated at EUR 19.18 million, including co-financing from the Cohesion Fund – EUR 16.06 million.
