From July 6, for the duration of the repair works, trams of route No. 11 will run to the Radio Street circle
From July 6, it is planned to perform the track infrastructure construction works in Kronvalda Boulevard, which will reduce the traffic handling capacity of trams in Kronvalda Boulevard and Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica Boulevard. Therefore, from July 6 until the end of the month, trams of route No. 11 will run to the Radio Street circle (Stacijas laukums), furthermore, there will be minor changes in the location of the stops “National theatre”.
Tram route No. 11 in the direction from the final point “Mežaparks”, will run along the route to Krišjāņa Barona Street. Further along Krišjāņa Barona Street, Aspazijas Boulevard, 13. janvāra Street, Radio Street, Krišjāņa Barona Street and back to the final point “Mežaparks”.
Passengers who have registered a ticket for a certain number of trips, when changing from tram route No. 11 or vice versa in the closed section do not need to re-register the e-ticket or purchase a ticket. If the passenger has a one-month ticket the first registration of which was made on tram route No. 11, then it will be valid on another tram route on the closed section without registration within the boundaries of the route coincidence.
“Rīgas satiksme” within the framework of the project “Stage 2 of the project Low-floor tram implementation in Riga” is performing reconstruction on the tram line in the section from the circle of Ausekļa Street (inclusive) to the intersection of Aspazijas Boulevard / Radio Streetalong Kronvalda, Zigfrīda Annas Meierovica and Aspazijas Boulevards. Within the framework of these construction works, reconstruction of the tram tracks in the stop areas, reconstruction of the passenger entry and exit platforms, their improvement in accordance with the environmental accessibility requirements with the installation of the bus stop shelters and provision of artificial lighting, as well as reconstruction of the catenary network, will be performed. In accordance with the concluded contract, the construction works will be performed by the construction company SIA “Binders”.
It is expected that the tram infrastructure, including the improvement of the environmental accessibility of stops, will ensure more efficient public transport services in the centre of Riga, improve traffic safety, reduce the number of accidents and negative impact on the environment, positively affecting public transport and raising quality standards.
