From July 8, as part of a pilot project, passengers will get on trolleybus No. 1 and buses No. 10, 20, 28 and 60 through front doors only
„Rīgas satiksme” informs that from July 8 and until the end of August a pilot project will be carried out, during which passengers on trolleybus route No. 1 and bus routes No. 10, 20, 28, and 60 will get on vehicles through front doors only, and get off through middle and rear doors. Trips will have to be registered at consoles next to the driver, thus enabling him to follow whether all passengers register their trips.
We remind that on March 19-21 a study was carried on bus route No. 56, during which ticket inspectors were present on all runs of this bus. It turned out that the number of registered trips in their presence increased by more than 20%. The pilot project, during which passengers will get on vehicles through front doors only, is to change the habits of passengers so that they register every trip and to decrease the number of fare dodgers, as well as to ensure accurate accounting of passengers as required by laws and regulations of the Republic of Latvia.
Trolleybus route No. 1 and bus routes No. 10, 20, 28 and 60 were chosen because of a rather low number of trips registered on these routes. The pilot project aims to increase the number of registered trips on these routes by 15%. We also inform that in July and August last year 41802 passengers were carried on trolleybus route No. 1, 46019 passengers were carried on bus route No. 10, 54849 passengers were carried on bus route No. 20, 37130 passengers were carried on bus route No. 28, and 49720 passengers were carried on bus route No. 60.
