Increase in the number of passengers purchasing public transport tickets via smartphone
In 2024, the number of passengers purchasing full-price tickets for Riga’s public transport via smartphone has risen. Currently, nearly 41% of passengers on "Rīgas satiksme" buses, trolleybuses, and trams buy their tickets online through smartphones, saving time.
Passengers, regardless of whether the ticket is purchased via smartphone or e-ticket, must register it immediately upon entering the vehicle. Additionally, the ticket must be re-registered when transferring between vehicles.
The code ticket enables passengers to pay for rides on Riga’s public transport via smartphone in online mode. This method operates alongside the existing e-ticket system. To use the code ticket, customers must download the mobile app to their smartphone. More details about the code ticket app can be found in the "Tickets" section of the company’s website.
