Most passengers believe fare-dodging is unfair

A majority of passengers condemn fare dodgers and believe that fare dodging is unfair with regard to other, honest passengers. It is evidenced by the results of an opinion poll on the "Rīgas satiksme" website.

Overall, 63% of respondents emphasise that fare dodging is unfair, but 20% point out that fare dodgers cause losses to public transport.

13% of respondents came to conclusion that public transport is often overcrowded because of fare dodgers, but 5% point out that fare dodgers affect renovation of public transport vehicles, making it slower.

More than 1700 Rīgas satiksme website visitors participated in the opinion poll which was carried out in March 2013.

It should be reminded that early in March Rīgas satiksme launched a new information campaign, Think again – buy a ticket! The campaign aims to address fare dodgers and to persuade them to change their habits, as well as to inform other passengers about losses fare dodgers cause to public transport.
