Night public transport to be provided in Riga from June 10 till end August in Friday-Saturday and Saturday-Sunday nights

Following a decision of Riga City Council, "Rīgas satiksme" will organise night public transport from the city centre to major city districts from June 10 till the end of August. The night buses will run in the nights from Friday to Saturday and from Saturday to Sunday.

Altogether, "Rīgas satiksme" will provide 10 bus routes that will link the city centre with a majority of Riga’s most populated districts. The terminal of the night buses will be located at trolleybus stop Railway Terminal Square/Central Railway Terminal. This stop has been selected because of its rather high capacity (there are three public transport stops near the underground passages) to serve several routes. Another reason is that this terminal is located in the very heart of the city near the central train station and is a good departure point to reach any of Riga districts. The night routes will be served by yellow midibuses.

All buses will leave the city centre simultaneously, in round hours. Departure times are selected so that passengers could better understand and remember night bus schedules. Buses of all routes will leave the terminal at Railway Terminal Square/Central Railway Terminal simultaneously – at 24:00; 01:00; 02:00; 03:00; 04:00; 05:00, but from terminals at the other ends of night routes – at  00:30; 01:30; 02:30; 03:30; 04:30, and in some routes at 05.30 (Ķengarags – Centre, Mežaparks – Čiekurkalns – Centre, Ziepniekkalns – Vienības gatve – Centre; on other routes the day traffic already starts at 05.30).

Departure times between terminals are approximate and depend on passenger flow. Schedules will be available at www.rigassatiksme.lv and at terminals of the night routes.

The fare for all passengers is LVL 1.00; tickets will be only available from the driver. Night transport is a commercial service and therefore is not subject to standard transportation tariffs and discounts, except for disabled persons who are entitled to using public transport free of charge according to the Disability law.

Drivers will stop only at passengers’ request at public transport stops. Passengers will get off and into the bus only through the first doors, except for disabled persons in wheelchairs, mothers with baby carriages etc.
