Passengers OK door opening buttons in new trams

Most of passengers are positive about door opening buttons in new low-floor trains and admit that such buttons should be also introduced into other public transport vehicles, according to the results of a "Rīgas satiksme" web-based opinion poll. The poll was held on the company’s website in November and involved 2800 "Rīgas satiksme" website visitors.

The introduction of door opening buttons into other public transport vehicles is supported by 67% of respondents. 13% respondents emphasise that the main advantages of the button is keeping warmth inside the public transport vehicle and preventing doors from being opened and closed without any need.

Meanwhile, 7% of respondents stress that door opening buttons are easy to use and functional. Only 13% of the opinion poll participants admit that they still get used to the new system.

Just the same question was asked to "Rīgas satiksme" followers at draugiem.lv. The answers were quite similar – a majority said that such buttons should be introduced into all public transport vehicles. A part of respondents also agreed that with the new button doors are not opened and closed when not necessary, thus keeping heat inside public transport vehicles. A slightly smaller number of passengers said that the button is functional and easy to use. Only few claimed that they still try to get used to the new system.
