Riga residents evaluate night transport

The night transport running in Riga on summer weekends means an additional means of moving in the city, according to a majority of those who participated in an opinion poll organised on "Rīgas satiksme" website.

70 % of respondents generally believe that the night transport is one of the ways of reaching the necessary destination, and 11% of the opinion poll participants emphasise that it is a good addition to the already existing range of public transport services.

13% of respondents admit that the introduction of night transport has influenced their choice in favour of public transport, and 6% point that they use night transport mainly because it is more advantageous: the fare is lower than in taxis.

In June 2011, 3595 passengers used the night transport, but in July it was used by 9132 passengers (12727 in two months). The most popular route was No.1 Centre - Mežciems, with 2049 passengers carried in two months, but the lowest number of passengers in two months, 462, was carried by route No. 9 Centre - Mežaparks.

More than 2000 "Rīgas satiksme" website visitors took part in the opinion poll which was carried out in July.

In July, the website of "Rīgas satiksme" was visited more than 570 000 times and public transport news were searched more than 1 million times. Information about public transport schedules at http://saraksti.rigassatiksme.lv was requested more than 4 million times.
