"Rīgas karte" awarded Ruban d’Honneur in European Business Awards contest
The prestigious European Business Awards contest is held every year with the support EU Trade Commissioner Karel de Gucht. The award is granted to companies having demonstrated top class innovations and achievements in their field.
The contest, which consisted of four stages, involved 15,000 companies from 28 European countries and lasted 18 months, including videos and presentations to the competent jury. Rīgas karte was selected as one of the finalists. The jury included competent managers of international business and academics. Rīgas karte was one of the three companies which represented Latvia in Istanbul. The jury was pleasantly surprised by what Rīgas karte archived in just a few years and its future plans.
Rīgas karte owes the credit of its award to its original business model implemented in the field of intellectual transport systems, which can be considered as praise for its innovative approach in the field of transport cards. In most cases, transport cards like Riga’s e-ticket are used only to pay public transport fare. Rīgas karte has developed its e-ticket into a multifunctional card for Riga and Latvia, which ensures, apart from the transport function, services in schools, welfare department institutions and municipal paid parking lots
