Rīgas satiksme has received all 35 of the planned Solaris electric buses

All 35 Solaris electric buses have been added to the bus fleet of Rīgas satiksme, which will gradually start transporting passengers in the city of Riga in the near future. The company has taken a major step forward in its development, as the main benefit of electric buses is the reduction of CO2 emissions in the city, thus improving public transport services. The buses are currently undergoing technical inspections, test runs, including testing electronic systems in an urban environment, as well as other preparatory work so that they can start transporting passengers soon.

You can already see the received electric buses on the streets of Riga, but the test runs are being carried out without passengers. During the runs, experts check the technical readiness of the buses, including the functionality of the equipment, such as the information system. It is important that the technologies implemented by the company (bus stop screens, communication with dispatchers, driver control boards) also work in sync with the new electric buses.

For the drivers, it is important to take such test runs to adapt to the new vehicle and to try out the charging processes. The winter season is the perfect time for this, as the road conditions and the heating of the interior have a direct impact on battery charging.

The new electric buses will soon be on the streets of Riga, transporting passengers.
