Rīgas satiksme has started the construction of electric bus charging infrastructure
Rīgas satiksme and the European Climate, Infrastructure and Environment Executive Agency (CINEA) signed an agreement on the implementation of the project “Construction of electric charging infrastructure at Vestienas iela 35. Phase I”. The agreement provides for the co-financing of up to EUR 1.86 million from the European Union under the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF) for the implementation of the project.
The project includes the construction of electric bus charging facilities in the territory of the 7 bus fleet (Vestienas iela 35, Riga), the increase of the maximum allowed load of the electricity connection, as well as the adaptation of the existing infrastructure to ensure the safe operation of the charging facilities. 21 charging stations (120 kW capacity) will be built in the framework of the project, each equipped with two charging ports. A total of 42 charging ports will be provided for electric buses.
The agreement for the implementation of the project is based on the project application submitted by Rīgas satiksme on 10 November 2022 to the CEF call for proposals “Alternative Fuel Infrastructure Facility – Works – Zero Emissions (CEF-T-2021-AFIFCOEN-WORKS-ZE)”.
The project implementation period is 17 calendar months and the implementation started on 10 November 2022.
Construction works for the adaptation of the infrastructure and the installation of charging facilities are already underway in the 7 bus fleet. According to the construction project developed by SIA REM PRO, construction works on the site are performed by SIA RECK, while construction supervision services are provided by SIA BaltLine Globe.
The total investment in the project is planned at EUR 4.01 million, of which EUR 1.86 million will be co-financed by the Connecting Europe Facility (CEF).
