"Rīgas satiksme" improves choice of its tickets by introducing smart ticket for one trip, more discounts, as well as new one-month tickets for all routes at price of one-route ticket.
Seeking to make the range of its tickets more attractive, as well as taking into account the first conclusions about the use of tickets, wishes and needs of passengers using the electronic payment system, "Rīgas satiksme" is going to change the range of its tickets. Today these changes were approved by the Commission for the Licensing of Commercial Passenger Transportation Services of Riga City Council. The changes will take effect after making necessary amendments to the relevant binding regulations.
It is scheduled that smart tickets for one trip will be available in ticket outlets, the price of 5-trip ticket will be cut, but discounts for 10-trip and 20-trip tickets will be further increased.
Schoolchildren and students will be able to buy tickets for a certain number of trips at 50 % of their nominal value.
The terms of using one-month tickets for one route will be changed by replacing the one route restriction with that of limited number of trips. Like before, these tickets will be valid for trips in overlapping routes, yet now each trip will have to be registered. From now on all one-month tickets will be subject to the same using conditions and each trip will have to be registered.
The holders of one-route tickets will be able to use all routes of the public transport type concerned, yet the number of trips will be limited to 85 trips for one-month tickets for all days and 65 trips for workday tickets.
The above ticket will be valid in any route of the public transport type concerned, during one month from its first registration. Every trip will have to be registered after entering a public transport vehicle. The price of the ticket will not change: LVL 19.50 for all months of the day and LVL 14.20 for workdays only, which means that the price of one trip will be only LVL 0.23 on the average.
The price of 5-trip ticket will be cut from LVL 2.50 to LVL 2.40. There will be also additional discounts for 10 and 20 trips tickets, which will cost LVL 4.60 and LVL 8.80, accordingly
Schoolchildren and students will be able to buy tickets for a certain number of trips at 50 % of their nominal value, paying just LVL 1.25 for a 5-trip ticket, LVL 2.50 for a 10-trip ticket, and LVL 5 for 20-trip ticket, accordingly.
The above changes will actually increase discounts on tickets for a certain number of trips and eliminate passengers’ discomfort related to using one-route tickets. Legal requirements as to accounting passengers will be also met.
"Rīgas satiksme" reminds that tickets bought until 31.12.2009 are valid until February 28. Until this date, customers can return their tickets to service centres and receive 100% percent of the ticket price back, unless the ticket was used. After March 1, unused tickets will be redeemed at 90 % of their value, but used ones – at 75 % of their residual value.
