Several public transport stops in Riga to change names as of June 1

„Rīgas satiksme” informs that following the decision of Riga City Council’s Commission for Licensing of Commercial Passenger Transportation Services and for passengers’ convenience, several bus, trolleybus and tram stops will change names as of June 1.

There are 1898 stops in the network of Riga public transport routes, and many of these stops still keep their historic names. The guidelines for giving names to public transport stops, approved by Riga City Council’s Commission for Licensing of Commercial Passenger Transportation Services, provide that when giving names to public transport stops, names of the nearest streets and cross-streets, settlements, significant infrastructure objects, numbers of land plots and buildings, as well as names of buildings are used.

When changing the names of public transport stops, schedule plates, audio records giving the names of stops, as well as names of stops on displays inside public transport will be also changed. Information on stop signs will be changed gradually.

We also inform that terminal „Imanta 5” of bus routes No. 21, 37 and 41 will change name to „Imanta”. Terminal „Trade centre Dole” of tram routes No. 3, 7 and 9 will change name to „Ķengarags”. Terminal „Jugla 3” of bus routes No. 15, 21, 28, 31 and 40 will change name to „Jugla”.
