The names of several public transport stops in Riga will be changed
On 21 February, at a meeting of the Riga City Council, a decision was taken to change the names of several streets. In line with the changes, Rīgas satiksme approached the Riga City Council’s Commission for Licensing Commercial Transportation of Passengers and on 13 March the changes to the names of several bus stops were approved. The process of implementing the changes has now started. The changes are expected to be implemented in early April.
The bus stop “Maskavas iela 450” on bus routes 15, 18 and 31 is renamed “Latgales iela 450” in both directions.
The stop “Maskavas iela” on trolleybus routes 4, 19 and 20 in the direction from the centre is renamed “Lastādijas iela”.
The stop “Lomonosova iela” on trolleybus route 15 and bus route 18 in the direction from the centre is renamed “Lauvas iela”.
The stop “Ļermontova iela” on trolleybus route 5 and bus routes 4, 21, 38, 39, 46, 56 and 63 in both directions is renamed “Viļa Plūdoņa iela”.
The stop “Gogoļa iela” on trolleybus routes 4, 15, 19, 20 and bus route 18 in the direction to the centre is renamed “Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela”.
The stop “Dzirnavu iela” on trolleybus routes 4, 15, 19, 20 and bus route 18 in the direction from the centre is renamed “Emīlijas Benjamiņas iela”.
The stop “Turgeņeva iela” on trolleybus route 13 in the direction of Timoteja iela is renamed “Vilhelma Purvīša iela”. The stop is currently closed and trolleybus route 13 takes a detour due to ongoing construction works in the area.
The stop “Dzirnavu iela” on trolleybus route 13 in the direction of Dzirnavu iela is renamed “Vilhelma Purvīša iela”. The stop is currently closed and trolleybus route 13 takes a detour due to ongoing construction works in the area.
The stop “Centrāltirgus” on tram route 7 in the direction to the centre and the stop “Maskavas iela” in the direction from the centre are renamed “Spīķeri”.
The stop “Turgeņeva iela” on tram route 7 in both directions is renamed “Jēzusbaznīcas iela”.
The Riga City Council’s Commission for Licensing Commercial Transportation of Passengers also approved changes to the names of other tram route 7 stops. The changes to the names of the stops are proposed to ensure that the names of the stops are the same in both directions and thus provide passengers with more accurate information about the location of the stop and the nearby objects.
The stop “Balvu iela” on tram route 7 in the direction from the centre and the stop “Aiviekstes iela” in the direction to the centre are renamed “Latgales parks”.
The stop “Lubānas iela” on tram route 7 in both directions is renamed “Rēznas iela”.
The stop “Prāgas iela” on tram route 7 in the direction to the centre is renamed “Autoosta”.
