Ticket controllers of “Rīgas satiksme” performed 22 561 public transport inspections in September and forced to get off 1011 passengers without masks
In the period from September 1 to September 30, the ticket controllers of “Rīgas satiksme” performed a total of 22561 public transport inspections, out of which 2457 inspections were performed together with the Riga Municipal Police. In total, 3213 passengers without tickets were fined for travelling without tickets in September. Whereas, 1011 passengers were asked by the controllers to get off public transport because they did not have mouth and nose covers or those were worn incorrectly. In September, a total of 7 814 945 passengers were transported by buses, trolleybuses and trams.
As explained by the ticket controllers, in general passengers are conscientiously following the safety measures established in the country and the vast majority of passengers are using mouth and nose covers. If the passenger has not put on the mask or has done it partially, the ticket controller asks him to do so, but if the passenger refuses, he is asked to get off at the next stop.
Activities to reduce the spread of COVID-19:
- all public transport doors, except the front doors, are opened at each stop;
- at all final stops increased ventilation of buses, trolleybuses and trams is performed;
- the passenger flow is constantly monitored so that it does not exceed 80% of the passenger compartment occupancy;
- every evening all vehicles are disinfected when entering the park or depot.
