Use QR codes!
If you look at public transport schedules at „Rīgas satiksme” public transport stops, you can see QR codes. It is a 2D barcode which enables planning of routes and finding out when the nearest public transport will stop here and also where the nearest ticket outlets are located.
QR is an acronym of „Quick Response”. It is one of the most popular 2D bar-codes, which are remarkable for their capacity to encrypt large information volumes.
If you have a smart phone, tablet PC or another device connected to the Internet, with a QR code reader, you can not only get to know the nearest public transport departure times from the stop concerned, but also plan your route and find the nearest e-ticket outlets.
Every day "Rīgas satiksme" operates 80 public transport routes using 1859 public transport stops. Every month on the average "Rīgas satiksme" receives 36 000 questions from passengers about public transport arrival and departure times and e-ticket trade outlets, as well as requests to help with route planning.
